The Impressions of Vietnam and Cambodia is for people who want to experience the diversity of Cambodia and Vietnam within a limited amount of time. We commence in Siem Reap, exploring the masterpiece of Angkor Wat. We travel cross border to Saigon, exploring her heart and surrounds, including the Mekong Delta. Enjoy the history of Hue and the charm of Hoi An before we arrive in Vietnam’s distinguished capital, Hanoi, where we take in a variety of picturesque sights, from preserved French-colonial architecture to stunning natural beauty at Halong Bay.

Full Itinerary
 

 

Day 1: Siem Reap Arrival

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your centrally located hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Overnight in Siem Reap

 

Day 2: Angkor Wat (B)                                                                                                      

We spend full day exploring the world largest religious structure, theAngkor Wat, built in the 12th century, took 30 years to complete and represents the Khmer civilization at its grandest. We then enter the South Gate of Angkor Thom Temple and marvel the wonders of the eerie Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, the Elephants terrace and terrace of Leper King.In the afternoon, we visit other temples in the Angkor Complex including Sras Srang, Ta Prohm, Takeo, Thommanon and Chau Say Tevoda. Enjoy the superb view of sunset from Phnom Bakheng hill.

Day 3:  Siem Reap - Saigon (B)

Today we continue to explore Angkor Wat Complex. We drive to the 10th century Banteay Srei –also known as the “Citadel of Women”, has been considered as the “jewel” in the Angkor’s crown. After lunch (by guest’s account), we will visit Neak Pean, Preah Khan and Pre Rup temple before transfer to the airport for a short flight to Saigon.

Upon arrival, pick up at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Free evening at leisure.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

 

Day 4: Mekong Delta (B/L)                                                                                           

After breakfast we travel out of Ho Chi Minh city and spend full day floating through waterways on an exploration of the lush Mekong Delta region. Upon arrival Cai Be province, we take a boat ride visit a local orchard and the Cai Be floating market, an interesting style of market in the Mekong Delta. Everyday, the boats filled with fruits, vegetables and other local products anchor along the banks of the River, waiting for traders and customers. Here we can see local people being selling, buying, and exchanging goods from their boats.

Leave Cai Be, we will see the coconut candy, rise crispy cake, rice paper making workshop… continue to visit the local house and strolling on the village paths. For lunch, the local people will serve you the local delicacy - an Elephant’s-Ear fish. After that you walk around the village to sea local's daily activities if you wish. We will visit Vinh Long local market before return to Saigon in late afternoon. Free evening at leisure and dinner on your own.

Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City

 

Day 5: Saigon - Danang -  Hoi An (B)

In the morning, we enjoy the city tour and explore city’s grand boulevards, passing famous sites such as the Re-Unification Palace, the Old Saigon Post Office, the Notre Dame Cathedral. We continue to China Town and Ben Thanh market before transfer to the airport to take a short flight to Danang.

Upon arrival, transfer to the ancient town of Hoi An and the rest of the day is free at leisure.

Day 6: Hoi An - Hue (B)                                                                                                         

In the morning, we will enjoy a half-day walking tour through the narrow winding streets of the Ancient Quarter visiting Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Halls, the 200-year old Tam Ky ancestral house, the Japanese Covered Bridge and the colorful local markets. We then travel by road for three hours to Hue, the last Imperial City ofVietnam.

Upon arrival, we begin to see the Imperial Citadel and Forbidden City, created in the 19th century for the Emperors under Nguyen Dynasty. End the day with a visit to Dong Ba market.

Day 7: Hue - Hanoi (B)                                                                                                    

Breakfast at hotel. This morning we take a boat ride along the romantic Perfume River. We stop at Thien Mu Pagoda to see the 7-storey octagonal tower and an old Austin car which transported the bonze Thich Quang to Saigon in 1963 for his self-immolation. Afterwards, travel outskirts of Hue to visit royal tomb of King Tu Duc before heading to airport to take flight to Hanoi, the charming capital of today Vietnam.

Upon arrival, we visit the Temple of Literature, the first Vietnam University dating to 1070. We then take a Cyclo tour through theOld Quarter, walk around the Hoan Kiem Lake before attending a famous Water Puppet show.

Overnight in Hanoi

 

Day 8: Hanoi - Halong Bay (B/L)

Breakfast at hotel. We then enjoy three hour scenic drive to Halong Bay, crossing paddy fields and villages in the Red River Delta with one stop for refreshment en route (20 mins). Upon arrival Halong, we take a 4-hour fantastic cruise on a traditional junk through the emerald waters between the limestone outcrops and long corridors. We visit Dau Go Cave "Grotto of the Wooden Stakes" and take a short walk away to visit the Thien Cung Cave "Grotto of Heavenly Palace", famous for its stalagmites ans stalactites. A seafood lunch will be served on board.

Continuing on, the trip passes Con Cho Da (Stone Dog), Lu Huong (Incense burner), and the many other strangely-shaped islets in this area. 1km on from Lu Huong Islet, the trip reaches Ga Choi (Fighting Cocks) Islet.
Then cruise back to Halong Tourist Wharf for return Hanoi in the early evening.

Day 9: Hanoi Departure (B)

Free at your leisure until transfer to airport for your return flight.
